What is

Canine Hoopers?

Hoopers is a fun, low impact and inclusive sport for dogs as all obstacles are ground based.

Courses contain hoops, barrels, tunnels, touch and go mats (TANGO), chutes, challenge lines and bonus boxes. Hoopers is suitable for all kinds of dogs; from miniature to giant breeds, puppies to seniors!

Hoopers is ideal for owners of all ages, abilities and fitness levels as it requires distance handling, unlike a sport like agility, where you would usually run with your dog.

Bamboo grows quickly, is tough and flexible, and symbolizes nobleness.

Why choose an Accredited Instructor?

I have always had a passion for enriching the lives of my dogs and others! Everything that I do with them I ensure that our main aim is that we’re having fun. Every activity that they have done I have taken at their own individual pace and enjoyment. My aim is to build a strong working relationship with my dogs and to help you build yours too.

So far we have enjoyed doing Agility, Scent Work, Rally, Obedience and most of all, Hoopers. I first started Hoopers in 2019 with my collie and a family dog – working 2 dogs in one class! It was challenging but it gave me more experience of working with dogs that had different learning styles. I qualified in 2022 as an Accredited Canine Hoopers Instructor and I attend CPD’s, workshops and in person training to ensure that I can provide you with up to date information. The Accredited Canine Hoopers UK Instructors programme is the only hoopers instructors course in the UK which has been approved by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.

Our classes are great for understanding how dogs learn and how to build motivation and confidence!

Emma&Mini

The eldest

Our absolute heart dog! This is the one that has certainly taught us the most. We would often hear people refer to her as unpredictable but she was simply misunderstood and communicated with us perfectly. She was a brilliant big sister to the dogs and made us proud everyday, I loved people seeing and commenting on how far she had come. We sadly lost Min this year – our reason for starting BCH in the first place.

The middle child

The most forgiving boy, he was so trusting and would give his all with everything that we did. We sadly lost our blue boy in January 2022 and he has really left a huge hole in our lives. Arlo completed his online Canine Hoopers UK Good Hoopers Award during lockdown but his love was agility and running with his sister!

The youngest

After looking after a Boston Terrier during my role as a Senior Dog Handler, I completely fell in love with the breed. She has already completed her Foundation Good Hoopers Award at 5 months old, Bronze Good Hoopers Award at 1 years old, completed sequences and is moving on to short courses; she is so unbelievably bright already! She is certainly proving to be as driven and as sharp as the collies. You will see this little one helping out with demos – one of her favourite things to do!
